Data and Analytics Community of Interest Roundtable

The October 10th Data and Analytics Community of Interest Roundtable session brought together a group of 30 members who all had an interest in hearing about lessons in data and analytics learned from other state agencies, engaging in dialogues about lessons, and/or an interest in growing their network of data and analytics professionals across NYS government.

The session began with a brief presentation from Dan Jervis and Tammy Reding from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. Dan and Tammy took the group through a recent project that they launched, discussed some of the unexpected conditions that they faced, and described how state resources helped them overcome challenges.

Following the presentation, there was an active and dynamic Q&A/Open Discussion session. Set in roundtable style, the COI facilitated an interactive conversation where the group discussed:

  • Challenges faced in data and analytics projects.
  • Effectively adapting projects in response to constraints.
  • Resources that participants have used to help overcome project challenges.
