Citywide Cybersecurity Roadmap Update
Guest Speaker Timothy Murphy (Retired FBI Deputy Director)

The June 28th Citywide Cybersecurity Roadmap Update featured a team from the Citywide Cybersecurity Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications as well as a Retired FBI Deputy Director who presented and offered a unique perspective on the current cyber threat landscape and the collaborative effort currently underway to address these risks.

The New York City Security Workgroup hosted the event to a crowd of roughly 100 members at the NYS Department of Tax & Finance in downtown Brooklyn. Presenters included: Geoff Brown, Citywide Chief Information Security Officer, New York City, Deputy Commissioner, Citywide Cybersecurity Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications, Colin Ahern, Deputy Citywide Chief Information Security Officer, New York City Associate Commissioner, Citywide Cybersecurity Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications, and Timothy P. Murphy, President Thomson Reuters Special Services, FBI Deputy Director (Retired)

Geoff Brown and Colin Ahern presented an update on the Citywide Cybersecurity roadmap that included topics on Citywide Cybersecurity''s data focused approach to threat prevention and detection, recent technology deployments to enhance cyber defenses, policy and governance updates and training initiatives. Former FBI Deputy Director Tim Murphy presented on the FBI''s role in cybersecurity, the evolving threat landscape and how public and private sectors are working together to build stronger defenses.

Following the presentation, there was an active and dynamic Q&A/Open Discussion session involving those in attendance. The event was extremely constructive and turned into an invigorating and captivating exchange of information and ideas providing much food for thought and plans for action
