Culture of Innovation in NYC Government Series
NYC School Finder

The November 17th Culture of Innovation in NYC Government Series event featured a team from the New York City Department of Education who presented and showcased their employment of an innovative fast build process that created a digital online tool version of the print NYC High School Directory, "NYC School Finder"

Chris Peet, Executive Director, Application Development (DIIT) and Vik Mukhija, Director of Communications, Office of Student Enrollment lead an engaging presentation to a group of 50 attendees (in person and on web) at the NYC Department of Law. The experts covered a number of topics involved with the project such as minimum viable product (MVP) challenge, DOE and vendor paired teams, use of extreme programming, Agile methodology and vendor dependency mitigation. The School Finder Application presentation examined the development aspects of business case creation, product vision, solution methodology and lessons learned.

Following the presentation, there was an active and dynamic Q&A/Open Discussion session involving those in person and on the webex. The event was extremely constructive and turned into an invigorating and captivating exchange of information and ideas providing much food for thought and plans for action
