ITS uniteNY Network Consolidation
The NYS Forum Project Management Workgroup hosted an event entitled "ITS uniteNY Network Consolidation". The June 23rd event was originally planned to be led by JR Katinas, NYS IT Consultant Project Manager. However, Vijay Madala of the Office of Information Technology Services presented in his place. Vijay did a fantastic job of leading the Project Spotlight session sharing his experiences with the uniteNY Network Consolidation Project.
Vijay Madala has more than 20 years of IT experience in both private and public sectors. His experiences varies from application development and database administration to providing oversight of data and voice network engineering groups. He has worked for NY State both as a technology consultant and a State employee, where he successfully managed several key large scale projects. Most recently, he led the network design and engineering group to deliver UniteNY VoIP rollout before moving on to direct the UniteNY network convergence project. He has a Master''s degree in Business Administration and held several certifications including CISSP, CISA and ITIL.
The presentation focused on the Network Consolidation portion of uniteNY which provided opportunities to leverage existing resources achieve organizational efficiencies and provide significant cost savings. Vijay provided an overview of the project, discussed the benefits, the issues and challenges that were faced, the lessons learned, among many other things.
The event became interactive with audience participation. There was strong dialogue and great talking points that contributed to how valuable the event was. The event concluded with an active and dynamic Q & A session where Vijay provided answers and more information to any questions presented by the audience. Overall, the presentation by Vijay Madala and the audience participation resulted in a constructive and valuable Project Spotlight.
