Presentation Overview

This panel presentation on the Office of the NYS Comptroller's (OSC) Emergency Management Plan will feature the panelists roles in the process of preparing for an unexpected event such as an emergency or outage covering OSC's three prong approach (Emergency Response Plan, Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan). This approach will talk about the process and technology used for each of the components including the use of Recovery Planner along with the perspective of a business user.

Featured Presenters:

Diane Renn, Director of Management Services, Division of Human Resources & Administration.
Diane is responsible for facility management and is directly involved with OSC staff communication. She serves on a cross enterprise committee tasked with revamping OSC's Emergency Management Plan. Diane is a member of the Continuity Command Staff (Business Continuity) to act as liaison with all OSC facility managers and provide internal communication to OSC staff during an emergency situation.

Karen Adams, ITS2, Division of the Chief Information Officer
Karen works in the Business Continuity Unit under IT Business Alignment. She is responsible for assisting all OSC Divisions with creating and maintaining their Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) using Recovery Planner (RPX). This process helps ensure that when a disaster occurs we are prepared, that all Divisions have contingency action steps and manual workarounds in place, and are able to maintain their critical business functions.

Bradford Lawyer, Manager Enterprise Architecture, CIO
Bradford is responsible for creating, maintaining and communicating OSC's IT Disaster Recovery plan. Once a disaster is declared, he is responsible for evaluating the disaster from an IT perspective and determining priorities and steps to get the organization back to business as usual.
