Presentation Overview:

Do you want to learn how others are managing their portfolios? How do we choose which projects to fund? What is the annual governance process for some of those in NYS? Find out the answers to these and more at the upcoming NYS Portfolio Management - Making Good Investment Decisions. This session will include 3 presentations on Portfolio Management from different perspectives, followed by a panel discussion for questions and answers.

Session topics will include:

  • Techniques used to determine which projects are chosen (e.g., rating projects based on expected value to be delivered by the project, resource requirements, and risk)
  • How to obtain stakeholder agreement based on an enterprise perspective
  • Managing stakeholder expectations as related to portfolio decisions
  • Benefits derived from using Portfolio Management techniques
  • NYS Annual Governance Cycle for the Health Cluster


  • Vikas Mittal, Managing Director at Accenture.Vikas has helped various public service clients for over 17 years to manage and complete large-scale transformation and IT efforts. Clients include the City of New York, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, State of Georgia, State of Texas and various education and nonprofit clients.
  • Anish Parikh, Principal Solution Consultant at OracleAnish Parikh is a Principal Solution Consultant for Primavera at Oracle, where he is responsible for working with customers in architecting solutions to meet their Project & Portfolio Management challenges. He has over 25 years of experience in the technology industry as a pre-sales consultant, project manager, and software developer at companies including Oracle, Sybase, Hewlett-Packard, Intersect Software, Bluestone, and CAE Electronics. Mr. Parikh holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from McGill University.
  • Eric Huntington, Assistant Director - Project & Program Management Office - Health ClusterEric Huntington currently works as the Assistant Director in the Health Cluster Project Management Office for the New York State Office of Information Technology Services. Eric is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2007 and received the 2016 Best of New York award for Outstanding IT Service & Support. He has assisted with project portfolio management at the NYS Workers' Compensation Board and at the New State Office of Information Technology services.
