The "Success with Data Analysis" series will demonstrate how a state agency is effectively using data to inform operational decisions. The content will be beneficial to agency program and business staff as well as technical staff interested in developing successful data-based programs.

Critical components for successful data analysis projects are data confidence and timeliness.

  • Are you analyzing the 'right' data?
  • How quickly are you able to examine relevant data?
With the vast array of data available to government, answering these questions will be key to developing effective data-informed decisions.

This session will demonstrate how the Department of Tax and Finance has built a self-service data process with the use of data cubes and analytical tools. You will hear how they determine what questions need to be answered, what data is required, what formats will be useful and how the data assets are made available directly to users.

The Agenda will include their process for:
  • Analysis and design process from the business perspective
  • Sourcing the appropriate data
  • Building data assets
  • Data self-service
